How Shuukr
started.
Shuukr wasn't born from a passion for fragrance — it was born from frustration with the fragrance business.
In early 2026, we noticed something in the Indian fragrance market. Yes, you find cheap fragrances everywhere — mostly Chinese dupes. But legitimate European fragrances from store shelves? EDT and EDP (5–20% concentration), and they cost ₹12,000–₹20,000 here. More expensive than what you'd pay abroad.
They're also formulated for European climate. In Mumbai's 45°C heat and 85% humidity, an EDT fades in 2–3 hours. Even the EDP gets thin by midday. You're paying premium prices for a fragrance engineered for a different climate entirely.
Good Extrait de Parfum — 30% concentration with a quality spray — lasts 10–12 hours with just 2 sprays. You get all-day wear, better value per spray, and it actually performs in Indian conditions. But to get that, you either pay ₹18,000+ for European Extraits or settle for dupes.
We asked ourselves: what if we built a fragrance house designed specifically for India?
What if we built our own AI software to analyze 25,000+ of the world's best fragrances, learning what makes them work? What if we then engineered formulas from first principles, designed for Indian heat and humidity? What if we handcrafted every bottle instead of mass-producing? What if we sourced from the same premium European fragrance suppliers but formulated specifically for here — using quality spray mechanisms so you get true 30% Extrait performance? And priced it at ₹1,499 prebook, ₹1,999 launch?

Raw materials sourced from reputed European fragrance suppliers — the same ingredient tier as Dior, Creed, and Byredo. We will not compromise on ingredient quality, even if it costs more. Premium oils sourced from Europe, then handcrafted into fragrances here. The quality of the oil goes directly into the bottle.
Every ingredient meets IFRA safety standards at certified concentrations. This is not industry standard among indie Indian fragrance makers — most skip this rigour. We don't. Safe on skin. Professionally and artisanally formulated, not a hobbyist experiment.
